# thelake

> Open source AI evidence lake on DuckDB — the LangSmith / Datadog alternative built for long-term storage of large full payloads at ~200x lower cost than index-heavy observability platforms.

thelake is an Apache-2.0 Rust runtime: OTLP traces and logs in; DuckLake + Parquet on object store or disk; DuckDB SQL and Grafana-compatible Loki/Tempo query APIs out. Softprobe Agent QA is built on thelake.
